Run My Errands
Imagine paying someone to do all of those nitpicky little chores that chomp up our precious days but are essential to human functioning. Linda Dutoit of Errand Service of Pittsburgh, a Wexford-based errand service, will do anything you can imagine as long as it's legal. One of her favorite things might be of particular interest: She will do your holiday shopping. Yes, she's purchased pajamas for strangers. She says her clients range from very busy executives to well-to-do families with a lot of young children. A typical day might have her dropping off papers to be signed, picking up prescriptions, returning movies or library books or making a trip to a specialty-food store such as the Italian market in Bloomfield or Whole Foods in East Liberty. She's even dropped off blood samples for a sick client. "I even help businesses by doing bank deposits or picking up documents from their archives," she says. If you can think of something that needs to be dropped off or picked up, Dutoit's your woman. The cost ranges from $15 to $20 an hour and the service is geared toward people in the North Hills.

Coach My Life
Life coaching may sound like something they do in Los Angeles, but here in Pittsburgh, people are signing up to get it together with Richard Butler. Motivating people to make changes, Butler looks at physical inactivity, poor eating habits, smoking and stress as the real reasons for their unhappiness. "If they feel like their life is out of whack, I'll connect with them, and we'll get on a six-month plan," says Butler. "We work on a personal mission statement that encompasses their dreams, integrity and, most of all, getting their own needs met." Butler is a nationally certified professional life coach, and has nearly completed his 770 hours of training needed to attain the title of master. Looking at a client's life as a pie divided into slices that include roles such as employee, mother, sister, wife, etc., Butler examines which piece is the smallest and which is the biggest. "Usually with women, they are so busy taking care of everyone else that they give nothing to themselves." He likens his basic philosophy to that of an airplane trip: "The instructions are to give yourself oxygen before anyone else. We need to do that in everyday life, too." Prices range from $270 for three 30-minutes sessions to $1,800 a month.

 Walk My Dog
You love your dog, and he loves you. It's just that with
the craziness this time of year—not to mention the cold weather—it's often hard to find time to do anything more than pet and snuggle. Sit-N-Scoop takes care of the rest.
This pet service comes to your house and takes care of all of Fluffy's needs. After a walk of any length to any place (with cleaning along the way), Sit-N-Scoop returns your happy dog home. When it's time for grooming or a visit to the vet,
Sit-N-Scoop does the driving. And before everything freezes, Sit-N-Scoop cleans your yard of anything Fido's left behind. Fees vary.

 Cater My Party
With holiday parties just around the corner, why not pay someone to make your soirée the toast of the town? Michael Lench Catering delivers food for luncheons, dinners or any type of special occasion at your home. All you need to do is show up looking great. Or, you can pick up ready-made food ranging from ham and venison to caviar and lobster. It doesn't matter if you need to feed four or 24; Lench designs the menu with you, then takes over your kitchen and wows your guests. The best part is he comes back the next day to clean. Edgeworth resident and Pittsburgh magazine "JET Set" columnist Judith Evans Thomas reports, "Everything is simple. If you need a person to help serve, he'll supply that, too."
Lench says he'll do just about anything and go anywhere with as little as a day's notice if there's an opening in his schedule. "We've been as far as West Virginia and Ohio," he says. Prices range from $10 a person to $100 a person, or more, depending on the food and scope of the party. A recent favorite? "We did a South Beach party that was all Spanish tapas and the hugest shrimp; the whole room was transformed," says Lench. "It was spectacular."
