"Distinguished Doctors"
This year, Pittsburgh magazine has added a new recognition category called "Distinguished Doctors." This list is not affiliated with the Castle Connolly "Top Doctors". It is a separate honor created by the editors of Pittsburgh magazine. The editors invited hospitals in a 10-county area of Western Pennsylvania to nominate one physician for this honor.
The criteria for nominations were as follows: The physician must be currently practicing and have at least 20 years of experience. This physician should represent the best in terms of patient care and professional accomplishment.
The editors at Pittsburgh magazine believe this new category offers valuable information to our readers who rely on the "Top Doctors" issue for insights into our region's excellent medical community. It also recognizes the fact that many of our community's best physicians may not be included on the "Top Doctors" list.
