Newsies had it easy-they told people to read all about it, and people did. But looking through the News + Information listings this year, you'll see there's a wealth of outlets for news, information and opinion-including this City Guide.

But a fresh outlet has arrived on the Pittsburgh scene: The Blog. Online dictionary Wikipedia defines blog as "a web-based publication consisting primarily of periodic articles" often focused on "a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news."

Mike Woycheck, co-founder of pghbloggers.org says blogs "bring a new dimension to Pittsburgh." His site, which he runs with his four co-founders-all bloggers themselves-is the mother of Pittsburgh blogs, as it lists more than 450 Pittsburgh-based blogs, up from 50 when they started the list two years ago.

Woycheck says Pittsblog pittsblog.blogspot.com and The Burgh Blog (burghblog.blogspot.com) are two of the most popular blogs in Pittsburgh.

Whatever your fancy, check out pghbloggers.org or start your own. Of course, you can always stick with traditional forms of news-good old-fashioned newspapers, magazines, radio and TV. -Eva Kokopeli
