After looking through this year's Kids + Family section, it hardly seems surprising that Reader's Digest voted Pittsburgh the fifth best place in the country to raise a family. There are farms with berries and animals, amusement parks with waterslides and roller coasters, and museums with trains and boats, among other wild and wonderful destinations.
A sure bet every time is the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, where you'll always find adventures and activities for kids of all ages (even parents). A recent exhibit, "Children Just Like Me" (based on an award-winning book of the same name), enabled kids to "take a trip around the world and meet children not that different" with hands-on activities focused on language, food, games, music, pets and clothing.
Consider this City Guide your annual family resource. You'll find countless opportunities for laughter, learning and just plain fun. Enjoy! -Eva Kokopeli
