FamilyPaul and Donna Kane; Kim and Sue Carpenter CeremonyLauren and Matthew were married by the Rev. Ralph Tajak at St. Peter Parish (720 Arch St., North Side; 412/321-0711, stpeterparish.org). FlowersEach bridesmaid wore a dress in different fall hues pre-selected by Lauren, so florist Michael Jacobs of Blooms (2722 Penn Ave., Strip District; 412/281-8110, bloomsflorist.com) made each person a bouquet of orchids that matched. He created stunning centerpieces for the reception using an array of colored orchids in his signature creative and exotic style. PhotographerCyndi and Tony Araujo (Araujo Photography; 412/741-2711, araujophoto.com). On the BrideLauren wore a strapless Badgley Mischka gown in old fashioned chantilly lace with a modern construction and feel. On the GroomFirst Class Tuxedo (2549 Penn Ave., Strip District; 412/566-2889, firstclasstuxedo.com) supplied Matthew's classic black tux with subtle pinstripe-and-ivory shirt. The vendor delivered the wedding party's tuxes to the hotel, did fittings on-site, and picked up tuxes from the front desk after the event. ReceptionLauren, Matthew and their guests celebrated at The Westin Convention Center hotel (1000 Penn Ave., downtown; 412/281-3700, starwoodhotels.com). Highlights included delectable hors d'oeuvres, cookie and candy tables, a martini bar with signature drinks and a vanilla-bean batter cake with chocolate butter-cream icing. The candy table (McKeesport Candy Co.; 888/525-7577, candyfavorites.com) offered close to 225 pounds of sweets, and almost all were gone by the end of the night. Guests not only left with caramel/chocolate-dipped apples (Fudgie Wudgie; 412/402-0388, fudgiewudgie.com) that doubled as table cards for the reception, they were also treated to the candy table, where containers were supplied. MusicBob McPherson (Rockin' Bob's Disc Jockey's Plus; 412/884-1000, rockinbobs.com) played the perfect mix of old classics for the bride and today's hits for the groom. |
