PITTSBURGH magazine and PUMP sponsor the 40 Under 40 program with the goal of recognizing 40 people under the age of 40 who are committed to shaping our region and making it a better place for everyone.

Over the past nine years, we have honored a vast array of people - ranging from corporate CEOs to nonprofit volunteers, from people working behind the scenes to those on the front lines.

40 Under 40 is all about a commitment to the region. If you know someone who deserves to be honored, be sure to submit his or her name for consideration. The deadline for nominations is June 6, 2008.

1. Nominating guidelines: You may nominate more than one person. You may nominate yourself. Eligibility: Past winners are not eligible. Current employees and board members of WQED Multimedia and PUMP and their immediate families are not eligible. Nominees must be between 18 and 39 years of age before Sept. 1, 2008. An independent panel of judges will determine winners. The nomination package must include the following information:

2. The second page of the nomination package must consist of a 500-word summary addressing the following clearly and thoughtfully: Nominee's professional achievements and activities Nominee's community involvement What sets the Nominee apart? (i.e. unique circumstances, overcoming obstacles) Personal anecdotes or insights about the nominee Keep in mind that particular attention will be paid to the nominee's overall commitment to and impact on the Pittsburgh region.

3. Up to three (3) additional pages may be included. They may be emailed to 40Under40@wqed.org. Word documents are preferred. Please title the document with the nominee's last name and 40_40 reference (example Smith40_40.doc).
