INSIDE WQED

Fritz Okie
Sound business sense has helped FRITZ OKIE open the doors of the KELLY-STRAYHORN THEATER to over 130 arts organizations in just four years, creating a unique community cooperative. Board and staff members alike credit Fritz for being the driving force behind the revitalization of the theater. He is commended for staying the course from the project's nascent stages to its completion. For his loyalty and fortitude we honor Fritz Okie with a 2005 Dominion Vita Award.

Sandra Pack
What started as a grass roots effort in 1990 by SANDRA PACK is now the Tiffany Concert Series benefiting renovation of the Calvary Church in Allegheny West on Pittsburgh's North Side. She has been responsible for every element of its success, from finding and hiring artists to acting as emcee. For her untiring efforts and work with the ALLEGHENY HISTORICAL PRESERVATION SOCIETY we honor Sandra Pack with a 2005 Dominion Vita Award.

Flo MonroeAs the parent-representative on the steering committee, FLO MONROE'S input and contributions help the HOPE ACADEMY OF MUSIC AND THE ARTS provide high quality, low-cost arts-education to Pittsburgh's inner city students. Not only is Flo an advocate and proponent for her own children, but for every child in the community. She can be seen regularly providing transportation and meals to children of the Hope Academy. For her devotion and kindness we honor Flo Monroe with a 2005 Dominion Vita Award.

Colin O'DonohoeA love for both traditional Chinese music and the city of Pittsburgh led COLIN O'DONOHOE to create the NEW MOON ORCHESTRA, which performs, educates and exposes our area to an ancient art form. From using his own resources for advertising to persuading an area university to rent their authentic traditional Chinese instruments to the New Moon Orchestra, Colin has been instrumental in the orchestra's success. For his will and dedication we honor him with a 2005 Dominion Vita Award.
