WQED Multimedia’s flagship program, the Emmy Award-winning OnQ magazine, airs nightly on WQED tv13. It is live and it is local. Since its inception in January 2000, OnQ magazine has covered the region with in-depth, thoughtful pieces that showcase the people and places of southwestern Pennsylvania.

The OnQ Folks

OnQ magazine has the ability to air longer features that take the time to examine an issue. The program was the first in the country to break the story of the rising abuse of the drug oxycontin, and presented extensive coverage of the local effects of war in the Middle East.

OnQ magazine airs stories on the local performing arts scene, business stories on the changing economy, and health care features that utilize the knowledge of the extraordinary medical complexes in the region.

WQED Multimedia has produced Black Horizons since 1968. The program focuses on the region’s African American community and includes local newsmakers and personalities. Each week, Black Horizons takes a look at the issues that face Pittsburgh, the nation and the world. Host Chris Moore and producer Minette Seate provide the community with the best of African-American culture, featuring newsmakers from the arts, politics, literature and history.

LifeQuest (formerly AgeWise) is a 30-minute local program that is a twist on the former AgeWise, hosted by veteran broadcaster Eleanor Schano.  LifeQuest takes viewers on a journey of what life has to offer. It's a lively look at issues people face every day and includes helpful information viewers can use to live a healthier life.

The Bayer Arts Magazine airs twice each week on WQED fm89.3. The program contains news and interviews with local arts organizations, and was honored with a Gabriel Award for best public affairs program.

Throughout the year, WQED fm89.3 tapes and airs hundreds of local concerts, including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Mellon University concerts, the July Fourth Concert at Point State Park, the Johnstown Folk Festival, First Fridays at the Frick, Brunch, Beethoven and Bach in Mellon Park, Concerts from Hartwood Acres and the River City Brass Band.

WQED’s publishing divison produces PITTSBURGH magazine, which showcases lifestyles and issues in southwestern Pennsylvania. Other publishing ventures include BEAVER COUNTY magazine, PITTSBURGH WEDDINGS, and the popular WQED cookbooks.
