Sarah Clendenning joined the Pittsburgh Symphony violin section at the beginning of the 1997-98 season. Previously she was section violin for both the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Opera, and has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Mainly Mozart Festival, the Vermont Mozart Festival and the Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra.
As a member of the Maud Powell String Quartet, she won First Prize at the Coleman Chamber Music Competition. She has appeared as soloist with the Vermont Symphony, the Hanover Chamber Orchestra, the Dartmouth Symphony, the Oberlin Orchestra and the Honduran National Youth Orchestra.
Originally from Hanover, New Hampshire, Clendenning earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin and her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School.
