Claudia Mahave became a permanent member of the Pittsburgh Symphony Violin Section beginning with the 1997-98 season. She had served as permanent substitute first violin for the PSO since 1994.
Mahave began her training at the Universidad de Chile, receiving a Bachelor in Violin Performance and an Orchestra Studies Diploma. She later received her Master's in Violin Performance and was a Fellowship Student at Carnegie Mellon University. She has performed with the Freies Kammerorchester, Berlin, Germany, Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic and Wheeling Symphony Orchestra.
