PBS Kids Go! Young Writers Contest     go to website

Reading, writing and imagination are all part of the national PBS KIDS GO! Writers Contest initiative, operated in conjunction with local schools across the country. This year, WQED is partnering with West Virginia Public Broadcasting, WPSU, and the EQT Foundation to offer the contest, which encourages children in grades K through 3 to submit their own original stories and illustrations for local, regional and national recognition. Enter to win the 2012 contest!

Teens On Q

Teens On Q is a television program, produced by WQED, that takes teens behind the scenes of a particular career or industry to meet professionals already at work there, provides teens with some basis for career exploration, and gives them the chance to think about academic, volunteer, and job-shadowing opportunities they can pursue now to prepare for that career. Click to watch Teens On Q Online On-Demand, and check out the Online Job Shadowing Guide (pdf).

Junior Great Race
September 21, 2014, Noon
The 19th running of the Dollar Bank Junior Great Race literally begins with a bang as costumed reenactors from the Fort Pitt Museum provide a volley of musket fire to start the Family Fun Run in Point State Park. Younger children participate by running in the Tot Trot or crawling in the Diaper Dash! Children of all ages enjoy meeting with favorite mascots, clowns, face painters, and musical entertainers.
