Reminder: Let’s Walk in Schenley Park, August 23

Yellow Touch-me-not. wilting, 16 August 2015 (photo by Kate St. John)Just a reminder that I’m leading a bird and nature walk on Sunday August 23, 8:30am in Schenley Park.

Meet at Schenley Park Cafe and Visitor Center where Panther Hollow Road meets Schenley Drive.  (No confusion this time.  We’ll meet at the regular place.)

Dress for the weather. Bring binoculars and field guides if you have them.

Click here for more information and updates if the walk is canceled for bad weather.

I’m sure we’ll see signs of drought … like this wilting jewelweed, alas.

See you soon.

  1. Hi Kate,

I was on several of your walks earlier in the year, but unfortunately can’t make this upcoming one. I live near Schenley Park and walk there often with my family. Anyway, I learned so much from your walks about how to stop and observe. I have been seeing new to me species of birds and butterflies due to it.

I recently saw a Question Mark butterfly near the Bartlett Playground. There is a tree with a pool of sap that seems to be attracting all kinds of bees and butterflies. It is right next to the slide structure. In the same hour I saw a Red Admiral drawn to it. Thought you might be interested.

Hope to join more walks in the fall!
    Jen
