Dorothy and E2’s first egg of 2015 hatched this morning at 4:49 am.  Teresa Buszko was quick to save this snapshot of the first nestling for Pittsburgh Falconuts.

The chick will be hidden when Dorothy broods it but you can be assured an egg has hatched because there’s an eggshell to Dorothy’s right.

But look quickly for the shells.  Dorothy eats them for their calcium.

Happy Mother’s Day!

  1. Kate, since you said the nestling name would be p43, I have name suggestion – I literally have no idea how this would work. But how about Troy? The number is for the Steeler – that just retired this year (a great Pittsburgh connection). And the name itself can be male or female (just in recent history has it changed to predominately male). Finally, and most importantly, the name means “warrior” or “soldier.” I think a miracle chick needs a strong name. Yes? Can this happen? 🙂

  2. Yay! Let’s pray for some healthy chicks this year. You go Dorothy and E2! 🙂
