I've seen quite a few waterspouts in the last 20 years on Lake Erie. We actually experienced one on vacation years ago when it hit the shoreline one afternoon. We didn't know what it was when it hit but the lawn chairs, broom, sand and a few rafts flew up in the air and then it just stopped. I have a cottage on the south shore of Lake Erie since 1994 and I've watched a few of them form on the water. One day we were out fishing and there were blue skies and sunshine above us but out on the horizon there had to be 10 to 15 waterspouts it was all the talk on the marine radio. They are something to see....I prefer to watch them from miles away.
