I had been looking online to find some helpful tell-tale signs to distinguish each bird, and I came across your video. It was perfect! Very helpful! and I just wanted to say thanks!

The little test at the end made me feel confident I could tell them apart in the wild.

Just saw a raven here in North Oakland. Was pretty sure of the ID, but came looking for this. The video reminded me of another clue I’d overlooked trying to get a better look at the big bird flying around outside my window. At 2:20 the video points out how crows are usually flappy and noisy while ravens are silent and soar. The guy I saw was just soaring in circles way high up – that’s why I at first thought he was a hawk or peregrine when I first got a glimpse of something way up circling.

This is great info Kate. We have a few large black birds at our property in Westcliffe, CO and I was unsure which to identify the bird as – Crow or Raven. I was leaning toward them being Ravens but was a little unsure until I just watched this video. We have Ravens as I thought we did. Thanks!
