Last weekend the birds were hopping all over Marcy Cunkelman’s yard in the snow.

You can see a male cardinal and a dark-eyed junco, both airborne.

And waaaayyy over on the left a female cardinal has raised one wing like a stop sign.  Is this too much excitement for her?

  1. Instead of “Talk to the hand” she’s saying “Talk to the wing buddy …. not that kind of girl”

  2. Maybe I should send this to Birds and Blooms for the caption and see what people say….I was thinking STOP!!!! like a crossing guard since she had her head turned the other way and her wing up…didn’t notice this until I looked at the photo on the computer.

EIGHT inches of fresh new, very light powdery, snow since last night, like frosting on everything….a lot more than a few inches they were calling for…Had to plow and shovel to feed the birds…don’t they have us trained?

  3. Great photo Marcy!

It sure looks like the male Cardinal is checking her out – maybe she is saying “back off buddy”.
