That is a beautiful bird. I was filling my feeder this afternoon & a young grosbeak was sitting on one of the rungs & it didn't move. Noticed that her eye was all red & surmised tht she was blind. She let me talk to her, be very close & I put my finger under her claw & then she flew away. Felt sorry for her because her life will probably be much shorter than the others. She must be able to see out of the other eye tho because she ws able to fly to the nearest tree & fly back when I went inside. Interesting watching them. Faith C.
