WQED oversees its television, radio, interactive and education operations at its high-definition studios in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. WQED provides tours of its facilities to companies, organizations and schools. Tours may include WQED’s three television studios, radio station, control room and master control. WQED Tour FAQ

When are tours given?
A tour of WQED must be scheduled one month ahead of time. Tours are offered on the second Tuesday and Thursday of every month and may be scheduled during the morning from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. or afternoon from 2:30 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. Tours are subject to the availability of the tour guide.

How long will the tour take?
Tours take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Is parking available?
Limited parking is available in the WQED visitor's lot located on the left-hand side of the building. Please indicate how many vehicles we will need to accommodate as space is limited. Public transportation, walking and car-pooling are encouraged.

Where should I go when I arrive for a tour?
You may enter the building through the main entrance on the first floor. Please press the button on your left and our receptionist will let you in and notify the tour guide.

What if I am late for a scheduled tour?
WQED tour guides allot 15 minutes at the beginning of a tour in case of minor traffic delays. However, anyone who arrives later than 15 minutes for a scheduled tour must reschedule for another day unless there are extenuating circumstances. Tours are subject to the availability of the tour guide.

What is the format of the tour?
A history of WQED will be given orally by the tour guide. You will be taken to: the WQED-FM 89.3 studio; television studios consisting of The Fred Rogers Studio and Studios B and C; and our high-definition (HD) Sony Master Control and Control Rooms. The tour consists of walking and standing. We will use the elevator at least once. Please indicate if you will need other accommodations.

Are there any rules for tours?
Yes. WQED recommends tours for visitors ages 12 and above. Tours are given during regular business hours, so we ask that parents help their children understand that running, touching equipment, and using loud voices are discouraged while in the building.

Is photography allowed on a tour?
Yes, photography is allowed throughout the tour, but we ask that group pictures be kept to a minimum (1-2 per stop) in order to maintain the flow of the tour.

Is there a fee for tours?
No, but contributions are greatly appreciated as we are a non-profit organization.

Is WQED handicap accessible?
