Blood and Gifts
It's 1981. As the Soviet Army burns its way through Afghanistan, CIA operative Jim Warnock is sent to try to halt its bloody progress, beginning a secret spy war behind the official hostilities. In J. T Rogers' Blood and Gifts, Jim and his counterparts in the KGB and the British and Pakistani secret services wrestle with ever-shifting personal and political loyalties. Mozart Festival Opens
Principal Horn William Caballero premieres Robert Levin's new edition of Mozart's Horn Concerto #1 and Orchestra. Manfred Honeck conducts Mozart's popular Symphony #41 "Jupiter", nicknamed for the Olympian magnitude of its finale. And, Robert Levin improvises his own cadenza in Mozart's Piano Concerto # 20 in D minor.

Silk Screen Asian-American Film Festival
The Festival begins with an opening night gala, and features 47 screenings in 4 locations including the local premiere of "Omar," the 2014 Oscar-nominated film directed by Hany Abu-Assad. Omar, a young and bold baker who lives in occupied Palestine, is accustomed to dodging surveillance bullets to cross the separation wall to visit his forbidden love interest Nadia. Sadly, occupied Palestine knows neithersimple love nor clear-cut war.
