Lifeforms
Coordinated by Robert Mickelsen, a Florida-based glass artist, "Lifeforms" is inspired by Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka's glass biological models made in the 19th and 20th centuries for Harvard University. The PGC exhibition includes more than 50 contemporary flameworked models, cast impressions, blown renditions, and an actual fish cast in glass.

Murphy/Smith Dance Collective - Sound Project
Murphy/Smith Dance Collective, formed in 2011 by Pittsburgh-based choreographers Jamie Erin Murphy and Renee Danielle Smith, explores the relationship between sound and human instinct. Sound Project illuminates how our everyday life sounds around us create environment, a source of communication and even our general feeling of safety. So what can happen when our familiar soundscape becomes distorted or even disappears?

Pittsburgh Symphony at South Park
Assistant Conductor Fawzi Haimor leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a free outdoor concert in celebration of Independence Day as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. The program includes Rossini's lively William Tell Overture, classics by Gershwin and Beethoven, and American staples such as Victor Herbert's American Fantasie, John Williams' Born on the Fourth of July, Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, an Armed Forces Salute, music by Marvin Hamlisch, and more.

Tales of Hoffmann - Retold
Hoffmann is obsessed with three beautiful women—or is it one mercurial woman, split into three different personalities? The great story of E.T.A. Hoffmann's love life is retold in a new version incorporating some of the poet-composer’s own music. International star Robert Chafin (Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper) plays Hoffmann.

Pittsburgh Symphony at Hartwood
Assistant Conductor Fawzi Haimor will lead the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a free outdoor concert as part of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. The program opens with Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro Overtuer. Then, PSO violinist Jennifer Orchard will play Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D major, and the closer will be Beethoven's famous Symphony No. 7 in A major.

Night Caps International
All set in the same hotel, the 2013 edition of “Night Caps International” introduces characters from around the world whose paths and languages intersect with comic results during a hotel stay. One of four 15-minute operas will be performed following SummerFest mainstage operas, July 11-13 & 19, and all four Night Caps will be staged on the 20th & 21st.

Re-conceived by director Alan Stanford, Oscar Wilde's comic masterpiece time-travels to the 1940's, where the price for breaking high society's rules are still considerable. Nike Doukas stars.
