Benedetti & Tchaikovsky
Conductor Kazem Abdullah begins his PSO concert debut with Brahms' furiously brooding Tragic Overture.  Hindemith's Mathis der Maler is arguably the German composer's most famous orchestral work and is based on music from his opera of the same name. Young Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti performs the Tchaikovsky concerto, featured on her recent highly-praised recording.

Walk Two Moons
Adapted by Tom Arvetis from the Newbery Award-winning book by Sharon Creech and directed by Lisa Ann Goldsmith. "Flawlessly adapted, 'Walk Two Moons' challenges audiences to look outward into a world where everyone has the immense power to help one another. Vincent Carr, organ
Vincent Carr will play the Cathedral’s historic 1931 Steinmeyer organ. Now Associate Organist at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, NJ, Carr earned his bachelor's degree in organ performance at Indiana University, and received the Charles Ives Prize from the Yale School of Music.

Angela Sheik Red Dress Tour with special guest Jim Rodgers
2011-2012 BOSS US National Loop Champion Angela Sheik is a fierce vocal- and multi-instrumentalist who wows audiences by building her own virtual backup band using rhythmic harmonies, beatbox rhythms, a looper pedal, and a collection of unusual instruments. Pittsburgh Symphony bassoonist Jim Rodgers goes electric with sound layering devices, recreating classical favorites, rock classics, and original soundscapes.

Trio Aoide
Coming from three different continents, the musicians in Trio Aoide bring a unique blend of classical music from their varied musical backgrounds and styles. They have played their respective instruments (violin, piano, and cello) throughout the U.S. and Europe, and enjoy playing together as Trio Aoide, named after the Greek muse of song

Maecenas XXIX Gala
Consistently recognized as one of Pittsburgh “Top Ten” parties, Pittsburgh Opera's Maecenas gala is always a glamorous, elegant evening. This year, Pittsburgh Opera honors PNC with the Maecenas Award and Dr. Jared L. Cohon of Carnegie Mellon University with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Peter Yarrow Mother's Day Concert
The music of Peter, Paul and Mary awakened a generation to activism and idealism. Their songs, “Puff the Magic Dragon,” “Blowin’ in the Wind,” and “If I Had a Hammer,” are classics. Peter Yarrow continues to use music to inspire and bring people together to create a more just, peaceful and compassionate world. This pay-what-you can benefit concert supports Hope Academy’s music scholarship fund.

Art for Change
