The Dybbuk: Between Two Worlds Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival marks its 10th anniversary with “The Dybbuk: Between Two Worlds,” a multimedia chamber opera by Ofer Ben-Amots inspired by the Yiddish tale of love and mystical possession. This new adaptation is presented by the Pittsburgh Symphony’s Music for the Spirit Festival, with stage direction by Aron Zelkowicz, choreography by Joan Wagman, and video by Sheri Wills. The performers are soprano Yahli Toren, clarinetist Gilad Harel, baritone Guenko Guechev, actor Leon S. Zionts, Texture Contemporary Ballet, and the Pappert Women’s Chorale & Children's Festival Chorus directed Christine Jordanoff, Music Director. "The Dybbuk" is in Hebrew, with English supertitles. 04/25/2013
Charlie Chaplin with Tom Roberts The Manor Theater presents pianist Tom Roberts and special guests performing Tom's original scores to "The Rink" and "One AM," two silent Charlie Chaplin classics from 1916. The Pittsburgh Symphony commisioned these scores for its 2012 Paris Festival. 04/25/2013
Romeo & Juliet Directed by Don Wadsworth, Romeo & Juliet, William Shakespeare's most-beloved romantic tragedy, comes to life in a brutally modern American setting amidst civil unrest and street brawls. Despite the violence, two star-crossed lovers find sanctuary in each other's embrace but the fury of their love is no match for the fury of an ancient feud. Beethoven's Ninth, "Ode to Joy" In this 'Music for the Spirit' concert, Manfred Honeck and the PSO pay tribute to the good in mankind. Beethoven's final symphonic masterpiece, one of the most recognizable pieces of all time, takes its text from Friedrich Schiller’s poem, "Ode to Joy." The PSO also premieres Christopher Theofanides' "The Gift," commissioned by the PSO to honor long-time Board Chair Richard P. Simmons. 04/26/2013
Music of Michael Jackson André Raphel conducts the music of the King of Pops from the earliest Jackson 5 to his mega-selling solo years. Vocalist Gavin Hope sings the hits Billie Jean, Thriller, Bad, and Man in the Mirror. Gavin Hope has shared the stage with Shania Twain, Natalie Cole, James Brown and Aretha Franklin. 04/26/2013
Glass Roots - Summer Flower Show Designed by Phipps Exhibit Coordinator Jordyn Melino, Glass Roots features artists of the Pittsburgh regio, who have made vines and blooms of glass, stained-glass towers lit from within, a glass wooly mammoth skeleton, a variety of vases, oversized glass Chinese lantern seed pods, Queen Anne’s lace-inspired glass flowers, abstract birds, water lilies and reeds, a tall glass sunflower, and more. 04/27/2013
Art All Night Art All Night, 22 hours of art and music, is called one of Pittsburgh’s most popular, and populist, arts events. Hundreds of artists enter more than a thousand works in the show, and they’re displayed by hundreds of volunteers. The show features live music, children’s activities, and more. It opens at 4pm on Saturday, and runs through 2pm on Sunday. Classical WQEDfm will broadcast live onsite, Sunday morning, 9 to noon. 04/27/2013

Rossini's La Cenerentola The fairy story with the glass slipper and golden carriage becomes an enchanting opera that replaces special effects with the real magic of true love and goodness. Despite her evil stepsisters, Angelina (Vivica Genaux) manages to be the belle of the ball, thanks to the wise Alidoro (Joseph Barron) and a beautiful bracelet. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that Ron Nelson's "Mayflower Overture" depicts the Pilgrims' travel to the New World. Pittsburgh's own Joseph Wilcox Jenkins is featured in his "Tartan Suite". Minnesota composer John Zdechlik's "Psalm 46" celebrates a famous Lutheran hymn, and director Jason Worzbyt closes with a heartfelt "America the Beautiful." 04/27/2013

Americana The Renaissance City Winds and guest Bill Troxler, hammer dulcimer, will perform traditional and original tunes. Troxler, a resident of Chincoteague Island, VA, is Music Coordinator for the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance and can be heard on several CDs. The Winds will also play American chamber music by Samuel Barber, Gunther Schuller, and Eric Barndollar. 04/29/2013
