Chess
In the midst of the Cold War, Freddie Trumper of the USA and Anatoly Sergievsky of the Soviet Union face off in a world championship chess tournament. The two men, with the reputation of their countries at stake, prove weak in the face of love and loyalty. Released first as a concept album in 1984, Chess has a critically acclaimed score by ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson. Directed by Scott Wise.

Spring Awakening
Directed by Tomé Cousin with Musical Direction by Thomas Douglas, Spring Awakening fuses the 19th century German expressionist ideas of Frank Wedekind with the modern angst and energy of the pop-music scene. This Tony award-winning musical follows a group of adolescent students as they struggle with sexual repression and double standards from teachers and parents, leading to more confusion and pain. Whispers of Light: A Story of Hope
A world-premiere ballet by Maria Caruso in two acts, in tribute to The Highmark Caring Place. With an original score by Nancy Galbraith, the ballet is based on stories of the children themselves, examining the grieving process of children who are experiencing the loss of a parent or loved one.

Cabaret 2013
This restyled event showcases the versatile Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artists in Broadway numbers, novelty songs, show tunes, and hilarious surprises. The Opera's George R. White Studio becomes an intimate New York City-style cabaret, and emcee and pianist Mark Trawka brings his devilish sense of humor to each performance.

A Kind of Alchemy: Medieval Persian Ceramics
This exhibition provides a beautiful and fascinating look at the diversity of ceramics made in ancient Persia (what is now present-day Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan). Produced for both the luxury and middle-class markets, these vessels, bowls, pitchers, and bottles reflect numerous cultural and artistic influences and an aesthetic sensibility that seems startling modern.

BYOB - Shakespeare's Ghosts
Bring Your Own Bard is PSIP’s informal scene night. Professional actors and non-actors read favorite Shakespeare. Feb. 25th will feature pieces about ghosts, goblins, witches, and other creatures of the night: the ghost of a murdered father, a spirit who invites himself to dinner, goblins wreaking mischief and witches chanting obscure prophecy.
