Puccini's La Boheme
It's Christmas Eve in Paris, and the young poet Rodolfo (David Lomeli) meets the love of his life, Mimi (Leah Crocetto). Their time together is a poignant picture of poverty and illness, shared by friends. The entrancing set captures the charm and vigor of 19th-century Paris. Pittsburgh pianist Nathan Carterette and organist Edward Alan Moore perform Franz Liszt's Totentanz and George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue; two works originally for piano and orchestra. The orchestral paret will be played on a 1926 Skinner organ ideally suited to orchestral transcription. The program will also include works for solo piano and solo organ.
