Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes
Phipps Conservatory and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre bring the magic of The Nutcracker ballet to Phipps’ historic glasshouse in Oakland. Performed by a cast of pre-professional students from the PBT School, these vignettes from Terrence Orr's The Nutcracker, including the Sugarplum Pas de Deux, will showcase the next generation of professional dancers, many of whom will soon perform on the Benedum stage with the PBT company.

The New Collective, an All-Guild Exhibition
This juried exhibit features works by the Craftsmen's Guild of Pittsburgh, Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh, Group A, Pittsburgh Print Group, Pittsburgh Society of Artists, Society of Sculptors, and Women of Visions, Inc. The exhibition coincides with the PCA's annual Holiday Shop, with extended shop and gallery hours.

The Kennedy Legacy
Directed by Dek Ingram, "The Kennedy Legacy" engages the audience in excerpts from powerful speeches by President John F. Kennedy read by local actors on the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination.

PB&J - Let's Be Composers
Chatham Baroque's Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions are designed for preschool children and their accompanying adults. Based on a model developed by the Linton Chamber Music Series in Cincinnati, PB&J is hosted by certified Kindermusik teacher Lynda Wingerd, and encourages young children to become active and enthusiastic listeners through music, dance and games. Chatham Baroque performs live, often with guest artists.

Freya String Quartet presents Snapshots - Album Preview
The Freya String Quartet performs a sneak peek of their first album, Snapshots, featuring commissioned works by Richard and Sean Neukom. Each short character piece recalls familiar musical and dance forms presented in a new light. Since its inception in 2009, FSQ has presented over 60 educational and concert programs to a wide variety of audiences across multiple genres.

Concierto de Aranjuez
Ensemble Ripieno (Federico Garcia, music director) welcomes Mexican guitarist Dieter Hennings in Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, a gem of the guitar repertory from 1939. Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for 4 solo winds and orchestra, a popular piece whose wind writing is only surpassed by Mozart's later Gran Partita, will feature Pittsburgh's REED III trio and Jaclyn Perez, horn.

Johnstown Organ Recital
Dr. Ann Labounsky, Professor of Music and Chair of Organ and Sacred Music at Duquesne University and Dean of the Pittsburgh Chapter, American Guild of Organists, plays a program of German and French music -- from Bach, Mendelssohn, Vierne, and Langlais -- plus an improvisation on submitted themes.

Inclined to Sing Fall Concert
Inclined to Sing and The Apprentice Choir, the children's choruses of the Johnstown Symphony, present their fall concert -- a program of Renaissance to contemporary music for treble voices, including "Velvet Shoes" by Randall Thompson, "Sound the Trumpet" by Henry Purcell, and some holiday classics.
