Ravel's Bolero
Featured in Disney's Fantasia and based on a poem by Goethe, Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice tells the story of a student who uses magical spells he hasn't yet learned to control. Pianist Michel Camilo, whose music combines elements of classical, jazz and world music, performs his own Piano Concerto #2. Conductor Leonard Slatkin presents four Ravel works, including his famous Bolero that demonstrate the composer's penchant for traditional dance forms.
