All Events | Starting Thursday, May 30, 2013The Kreutzer Sonata Pozdynyshev, an enigmatic stranger in a smoky rail car, weaves a tale of love, loss and betrayal. His sensuous wife plays piano while his old friend plays violin, the Kreutzer Sonata between them, powerful and evocative. Was Beethoven's music the soundtrack to their illicit passion, or has Pozdynyshev made a terrible mistake? Irish playwright Nancy Harris adapted Tolstoy's classic novella into a theatrical experience. Richard McMillan stars, Alan Stanford directs. 05/30/2013
Other Desert Cities Lyman Wyeth is an actor-politician in the Ronald Reagan mold. His impeccable wife Polly never has a strand of hair out of place. Now retired, their life in a wealthy Palm Springs enclave is upset when relatives arrive for the holidays. Son Trip is a TV reality show producer; Polly's sister Silda is a wisecracking liberal just out of rehab; most troubling is daughter Brooke, who announces that she is about to publish a revealing memoir. This 2012 Tony-nominated Broadway sensation by Jon Robin Baitz is an entertaining look at unruly family politics. Rob Ruggiero directs. 05/30/2013
42nd Street Broadway razzle-dazzle at its best. Fired from her first Broadway show, starry-eyed actress Peggy Sawyer thought she’d never see her name in lights, but fate had other plans. Come and meet those dancing feet in this Tony Award®-winning musical. The toe-tapping, foot-stomping score includes such classics as "We’re in the Money," "42nd Street" and "Lullaby of Broadway." 05/31/2013
Honeck, Rossini & Strauss Manfred Honeck conducts Rossini's exciting William Tell Overture -- famously used as the theme music for the Lone Ranger radio and television shows. Symphony #93 is the first of 12 “London symphonies” composed by Haydn and showcases the composer's humor. Strauss' tone poem Ein Heldenleben (A Hero's Life) depicts a hero's journey from the battlefield to finding peace. 05/31/2013
