Music 101 - Lorna McGhee, flute
Get to know the PSO's new Principal Flute, Lorna McGhee, at an informal lecture-and-performance. Her theme, "From Old World to New - Journeys with the Flute," will be loosely based on Dvorak's New World Symphony, which is featured on the orchestra's first subscription concert of the new season. With pianist Donna Amato, she'll play movements from Dvorak's Violin Sonata on her flute, as well as a Baroque piece, music by Katherine Hoover, Jake Heggie, and something inspired by John Coltrane.

Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge
In Christopher Durang's parody of A Christmas Carol, Scrooge has "a kind of seasonal Tourette's Syndrome" causing him to exclaim "Bah, humbug!" and Mrs. Cratchit is a raging woman who is fed up with her 20 children (most of which she keeps locked in the root cellar) and can't take the goody-goody kid with a crutch any longer!
