East Winds Symphonic Band

Michael Jackson, baritone
Baritone Michael Jackson performs with guest mezzo-soprano Adele Grabowski and organist Martin Barstow. The program will include Josef Rheinberger's Six Religious Songs, Op.157, Max Reger's Op.105 for Organ and Voice, and J. S. Bach's Cantata #57 "Selig ist der Mann," which will feature singers from the Covenant Church of Pittsburgh.

Budapest on the Bluff: Fife and Drums
Nine members of the Pittsburgh Symphony show off an array of sounds and colors in this season-opener, in music ranging from 17th century dances through dazzling Romantic virtuosity. The witty musings of Antal Doráti, one of the great conductors of the 20th century lead to the masterpiece of Bartók's Sonata, a work of overwhelming genius seldom heard in concert because of its great difficulty.
