Gloria!
Handel's stunning Gloria showcases soprano Sherezade Pantahki in her Pittsburgh debut. This celebration of Christmas traditions includes joyful instrumental works by Giuseppe Tartini and Marin Marais.  Guests include Erika Cutler, violin; and Andrew Appel, harpsichord. Friday's "Wandering Minstrels" event is at St. James Parish in Sewickley.  Other concerts are Saturday evening at Synod Hall, Oakland; and Sunday afternoon at Chatham University.

Ellington's Beggar's Holiday
Duke Ellington's only Broadway show - an updated and totally Americanized version of the Threepenny Opera starring that lovable rogue Mack the Knife. Romance, thievery, corruption, passion – Mackie’s back in town! And he is accompanied by the incomparable sound of MCG Jazz. Libretto by Dale Wasserman & John La Touche, and orchestrations by Mike Tomaro. Jonathan Eaton, Stage Director.

Duke Ellington's Beggar's Holiday
A Jazz Collaboration with the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh.  A landmark revival of Duke Ellington’s retelling of the Beggar’s Opera features musical arrangements by Pittsburgh’s own Billy Strayhorn and text by Dale Wasserman and John Latouche.  Broadway’s first racially-integrated musical, set in America, tells the story of the lovable rogue MacHeath who escapes the gallows and carries off his true love, Polly Peachum.

A selection of tapestries and prints from the Carnegie’s collection explores the historical popularity of these engaging pictures in textile; the patrons, artists, and studios that created a taste for tapestries; and the thematic intersections between tapestry and print imagery, such as masterworks by Albrecht Dürer, Andrea Mantegna, and others.
