Honegger's "King David"
Titled a "dramatic psalm," this retelling of le roi David consists of twenty-seven movements across three parts, and includes actors and dramatic elements interspersed with the music. Honegger's use of several musical styles ranging from Gregorian chant to Baroque to jazz allowed him to make a serious contribution to the neoclassical era. Thomas Douglas conducts.

A Deco Affair: Puttin' On The Ritz
Opera Theater of Pittsburgh presents its 2015 gala hosted by Jon Burnett of KDKA-TV. Roaring '20s attire suggested (prizes awarded) for an evening of cocktails, dinner, dessert, entertainment and distinctive auction items. All proceeds benefit Opera Theater SummerFest performances, educational and artist training programs.

New Beginnings: Music of Gwyneth Walker
The Aeolian Winds of Pittsburgh, Belle Voci women’s choir, Giambelli String Quartet and dancers from La Roche College will perform New Beginnings, a concert by, about, and for women, featuring music by Gwyneth Walker. Proceeds will support the Pittsburgh Women's Shelter. WQED's Anna Singer will interview Ms. Walker at 6:00.

Sound Series: André Mehmari & Tatjana Mead Chamis
Renowned Brazilian pianist and composer Andre Mehmari and Tatjana Mead Chamis, Pittsburgh Symphony associate principal violist, play a unique and genre-bending concert in the museum's intimate theater. Mehmari's musical sensibility knows no borders, freely flowing between Chopin, Scott Joplin, and Ernesto Nazareth. Chamis shares Mehmari's instinct and passion for creating music free of predetermined boundaries. Co-presented with MCG Jazz and Pitt's Center for Latin American Studies.

Three Rivers Community Band Festival

Trio Nova Mundi
Trio Nova Mundi showcases composers of the New World, in part by performing new or lesser-known works alongside the classics. As Trio Nova Mundi, violinist Maureen Conlon Gutierrez, cellist Elisa Kohanski, and pianist Becky Billock, have received glowing reviews in BBC Music Magazine and Fanfare. Since 2001, the trio has performed throughout the United States, and in Mexico, Ecuador, and Africa.
